There isn’t a lot of stuff hanging on our walls. But what’s there is all really meaningful to me.
A few Christmases ago, 3 to be specific, my husband got me 3 prints of schematics for various pieces of Pilates equipment. He said they’re for me to hang in my studio when that time comes. Back then, the thought of having my own studio was a deep dream but a very abstract concept all the same. Here we are now though! His belief in me, my own hard work, determination and perseverance along with some guidance from and surrendering to the universe and we have Glow Pilates! For these reasons, these schematic prints mean quite a lot. (Technically, these prints aren’t hanging yet. They’re resting on the floor while I take time to commit to where exactly they’ll go!).
Then we have two prints by Morgan Harper Nichols – a beloved writer and artist of whom I have been a fan for some time. Often times her words resonate so deeply for me that it’s almost as if she is writing directly to me, for me. The words along with the colours and composition of her art work – her posts on Instagram are just wonderful. Much to my delight, she recently started selling prints (timely for Glow Pilates!), and of course I needed a couple for the studio.
One reads ‘May this be the season you welcome slow and steady growth’, and that’s my hope for myself (and for all that pass through Glow’s doors, really) that we welcome slow, steady growth in each season of our lives and in all the many ways that sentiment can be interpreted.
The second print says simply ‘breathe’, and what an apt reminder in Pilates as well as in life!
The other notable feature is on the back wall of our studio, and it’s our motto – ‘Move well. Be well.’ These words actually form the ethos of Glow Pilates. Our intention is to help you move better so that you can feel your best. To us, this involves developing strong, flexible and efficiently aligned bodies in balanced harmony with our breath, minds and hearts. And there it is in big, bold, bright yellow print on our studio’s back wall as a constant reminder of where we’re coming from with our brand of Pilates and of what we’re hoping to instil in all of the clients who join us here.
