New Equipment

It was like Christmas in June for me a couple weeks ago as the rest of our studio equipment arrived at last. YAY!

We now have our very own Trapeze Table, a Combo Chair, a Ladder Barrel, and a little thing called a Pilates Arc.
I have had some fun this week initially with unpacking everything, then putting it all together. Between assembling all the Reformers in March and now all of this apparatus his week, I have used an allen key more in the last 4 months than I have in the cumulative of the rest of my life to this point!

Anyway, after everything was put together, I got to start playing around with it all and test it all out. HEAVEN. The quality of our new equipment is just stellar. (Thank you Balanced Body.)

I’ve been using the Reformer versus Mat experience to somewhat explain what these different pieces are for. You know how with the Mat and the Reformer, some exercises are the same but more challenging on the Reformer OR more challenging on the Mat. For example, the 100 is (arguably) more challenging on the Mat and more supported on the Reformer, whereas Quadruped is more challenging on the Reformer but more supported on the Mat. And then there are exercises on the Mat that are just different than the Reformer and vice versa.

The same goes for all of our new equipment as well. While the Trapeze Table is huge and perhaps looks intense (it looks amazing!), some of the movements we’d do on it are far more supported or ‘easier’ than on the Reformer. At the same time, some are far more advanced and challenging. It just depends.

The majority of the time this new stuff will be used during private sessions on a one-to-one basis. But we’ve been chatting about adding a circuit style class to the timetable come September so that more of our lovely clients can experience the joy of this gorgeous Pilates equipment.

In the meantime, obviously, have a look and feel free to ask us about them. And if you’re in the mood for a private session to play around with some of these beauties, of course get in touch!
